Above
is a map of Grove Farm as it exists today. As his sugar
plantation expanded, G.N. built and furnished needed
structures which faced a very large yard, enclosed by stone
walls. Grove Farm soon consisted of the
old house, a carpenters shop, an oxen equipment shed, an
office, his sleeping quarters, two guest cottages, and a
plantation camp for his workers. Food still needed to be grown
to supply the table, so the farm also included animal pens, a
large garden, a great variety of
fruit trees with cattle and horses occasionally being pastured in
the large
yard. |
